BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

Phil has been actively involved in a range of industries over the years including business services, communications, education, distribution, apparel, sport, health, and social services sectors. 

​Phil has provided assistance to over 4,500 small and medium size businesses during his time as a business advisor with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise’s biz Information service, the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Business Mentors New Zealand. He has also assessed business plans for MSD's Flexi-wage applicants.  

​At senior management level Phil has been chief executive at WelCAB (where he managed six Citizens Advice Bureau and two budgeting service branches), and deputy managing director at the New Zealand Institute of Sport (where he taught marketing and promotion, event management, sponsorship, and administration and financial systems).  

He is former secretary of the Wellington Innovation Network, and a co-founder of the Cable Car Challenge Business Plan Competition, Global Entrepreneurship Week New Zealand program, and Incubators New Zealand.  He has run business incubators at various locations around Wellington, and he has been actively involved in delivery of the New Zealand Institute of Management’s Small Business Entrepreneurs Program.

In other roles, Phil was responsible for delivering the Wellington pilot of NZTE's Connect New Zealand program, which connected high-growth companies with the people and resources needed to springboard into international markets.

Phil has been a licensed business broker with New Zealand’s premier business brokering firm, and he has deep inside knowledge on getting businesses into shape, drafting Information Memoranda, advising on sales strategies, etc. 

​

Phil has taught post-graduate Leadership, Management and Social Responsibility at one of New Zealand's leading tertiary education institutions.  At undergraduate level, he taught Entrepreneurship, Problem Solving / Decision Making, Marketing, Leading Projects, and other cool business papers.

​

Phil currently delivers contracted workshops and skills / industry training, in areas such as Advanced Sales and Service Skills, Stock and Inventory Management, Supervisory Management, Business Planning and Development, and computer skills.  He is happiest working on business development projects, designing business-related programmes, and teaching various business-related subjects.

​
